Zappit is a variation of blackjack that allows players to remove or “zap” cards from their hand. The players are then allowed to replace the cards with any two cards. Zappit Blackjack for real money is available at online casinos as well as land-based casinos.

How to Play Zappit Blackjack
As we have already mentioned, Zap has a similar objective to the traditional game. As the hand starts, the player needs to make a bet and place it on the betting circle. Here are 5 easy steps on how to play:
1. First you start off with placing a bet
You basically play a single hand against the dealer. To kick off the game, you have to click on the chip icon, then to place the bet you click on the bet circle. Then finally you have to click on the deal button. If you want to bet the same amount again after the round is completed, you should use the re-bet button.
2. Player and dealer get two cards each
Both the dealer and the player will be dealt two cards each. The dealer will have one card face up and the other card hidden. For the majority of the hands the game remains the same with players deciding to either surrender, split, double, stand or hit. The options will depend on your card and the dealers up card.
3. Get new cards using the zap button
If the player has 15 through 17, then the ‘Zap’ button comes into play. The two cards you have will be discarded and you will be dealt two more cards. Once you use Zap button any 2-card 21 you receive is regarded as a plain 21 hand. It usually pays 3:2 and does not count as a ‘Blackjack.’
4. Now it’s time for splitting and doubling down
You can double down any total when you play Zappit 21. You can only split three times and only split aces once. At this point, player are not allowed to re-split aces in this variation of blackjack.
5. Compare your hands against the dealer
After making your decisions and still part of the game, the dealer will have the opportunity to do the same. The player will win automatically if the dealer busts and goes over 22. The house wins if the dealers hand has a value above the player.
Zappit 21 Rules
The rules of Zap blackjack are not at all complicated. If you are already familiar with the rules of the traditional game, you will not struggle at all. The only difference is the zap option. Let’s take a look at the game rules you should take into account when you play this blackjack variation:
1. You will use six decks when you play this game.
2. You can use the zap option between 15 and 17 points.
3. Before the dealer peeks for blackjack, you will be allowed to zap.
4. Prior to zapping a blackjack usually pays 3 to 2.
5. If you get a blackjack after winning you are an immediate winner. This hand pays 1 to 1.
6. You can surrender and you may also double after a split.
7. You can split aces and split aces get one card each.
8. The dealer hits on a soft 17.
Zappit Blackjack Strategy

- Stand against a two, three, or seven if you are dealt a pair of nines.
- You need to split against four, five, six, and eight. Stand against a two, three, four and seven.
- Zap your hand if you are holding a 9-9. This is if the dealer has an ace, nine or 10.
- If the dealer shows four, five, six, or eight you should split when you have a 9-9.
Zappit Payouts and Odds
Similar to the banker bet in baccarat, Zappit blackjack has a house edge that sits at 1.15%. This house edge is better compared to other casino games such as slot machines, all poker games, roulette and video poker machines. At a land-based casino, the house edge is 1.24%.
The house edge will increase to 0.78% when you hit on soft 17. This is when you play with six decks. Moreover, when you play with eight decks it will be increased to 0.80%. Playing Zappit 21 allows you to surrender. However, the house edge grows by 0.006% if this rule is changed, or by 0.018% if the dealer stands on soft 17.
When it comes to payouts, this variation of blackjack pays out similar to classic blackjack. This would be for a winning hand 1 to 1 and for a natural blackjack it pays out 3 to 2.
